Association (NGAUS) History

NGAUS helped record a victory for TRICARE participants in 2008 when Congress overrode President George W. Bush’s veto of the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act. The legislation reversed a reimbursement-rate reduction that would likely cause many participating physicians to withdraw from the program, limiting the number of providers available to eligible patients. TRICARE reimbursement rates are tied to Medicare, so any action affecting Medicare would also affect TRICARE. NGAUS sent a call to action for state adjutant generals to contact their senators to support the reversal.
