The National Guard Association of California is pleased to announce that effective 1 April 2015, the State Sponsored Life Insurance (SSLI) benefit will be underwritten by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, better known as "Met Life.”
As you may know, MetLife is rated A+ by A.M. Best Company and is an industry leader in life insurance as well as other benefits, which will now be available to members of the California National Guard. They are committed to the military market and currently play a major role in underwriting your Servicemembers Group Life Insurance or SGLI.
Future benefit briefings, which are held every 12-18 months for every California Army and Air National Guard unit, will include the Met Life group program. The $1,000.00 "no cost" benefit for all active members of the California National Guard will continue unaffected.
Be sure to attend your unit's next briefing to update your beneficiary information and learn about the reduced group rate, which is now lower than what was available for new enrollment prior to the 1 April change.
Remember, that NGAC's SSLI program may be continued when you leave active military service, and may be kept to age 70!
