Former Capitol Hill Staffer Joins NGAUS Staff

Washington Report

(January 23, 2018) J.C. Cardinale, a former National Guardsman now in the Reserves, joined the NGAUS staff this week as the legislative program manager for joint and personnel programs. Cardinale most recently worked as a legislative aide for Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, focusing on defense and foreign relations policy.

“Working at NGAUS is just another opportunity to push Guard priorities,” he said. “Hopefully I can help out a little bit more. It’s nice. It’s a wider aperture then I got just being in one office.”

During eight years in the Army Guard in California, Florida and North Carolina, Cardinale deployed to Iraq in 2009 and Afghanistan in 2014. He joined the Army Reserves in 2015 where he is the commander of a civil-affairs company.

Cardinale, who earned a master of public policy degree with a national security concentration at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, also worked with legislative affairs at the National Guard Bureau. He earned a political science degree from George Washington University.
