OUTSTANDING AIRMAN Staff Sgt. Wilson Gardner of the Georgia Air National Guard has been named one of the Air Force’s 12 Outstanding Airmen. He is an airfield systems craftsman in the 202nd Engineering Installation Squadron.

TANKER DELIVERY Boeing and the Air Force have agreed that the first delivery of the KC-46 tanker will take place in October. Seventeen more aircraft will be on Air Force ramps by April 2019. The first Air National Guard to receive the new refueler will be the 157th Air Refueling Wing of New Hampshire.

ACADEMY BOSS Lt. Gen. Robert L. Caslen, the superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York, has retired after 43 years in uniform, including five years at West Point.

VA PICK The Senate Veterans Affairs Committee will consider Wednesday the nomination of Robert Wilkie as the secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs. He was nominated for the post by President Donald Trump.

BURIED TOGETHER Five crew members of a B-17 shot down over Germany during World War II will be buried together Wednesday at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. The remains of the men were recovered in 2015 and 2016.

CIVIL WAR BURIALS Two men killed during the Civil War’s Second Battle of Bull Run in Virginia in 1862 will be the first burials in the new section of the Arlington National Cemetery this summer, The Washington Post reported. The remains of the soldiers fighting for the North were discovered in 2014. Their coffins will be made from a downed tree taken from the battlefield.
